Hello I was wondering when the county minor trails are for my son Sean, he's very keen to try and make it on the squad as he has enjoyed the Maganeen cup with his school.

Liam please look at our posts on our news section of the website for information

Let them in

26th January 2016

I see suggestions/ proposals for a couple of teams outside of Antrim to be accomodated within our leagues. I would support this as it brings a new dimension/ new challenge/ new style. Often we are caught up playing neighbouring clubs in all sorts of junior/ reserve basically meaningless competitions for players who turn up for a game. Most of these competitions at Divisional level do nothing to up the standard of hurling. Of course they are useful for recreational purposes but that is it. The game at championship club has now an All Ireland dimension. Teams in leagues find their level and it doesn't matter whether it is Div 2 or Division 4 as long ad the vision, intention and commitment is to improve standards and progress. Lots of our Divisional Board stuff is not about development or improving standards. I realise there is tradition to hold on to whatever it is we want to hold on to? If there are committed clubs elsewhere in Ulster let us put them together. We in Antrim should be rightly proud of our commitment to hurling - let them in!
