Why can't the position of secretary be challenged?

Currently the post of Secretary is a full time paid position.

Election

5th November 2015

If the County Chairman is usually the delegate to Central Council why would someone else ( on the Antrim Vision) seek that position?

The County Chairman does not have to be the Central Council Delegate. Antrim have been in the minority sending their Chairman to Central Council.

how many county officers are not seeking re election this year ?

There will be a new Chairman, vice/Chairman, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, PRO, Cultural Officer, Central Council Rep. There will also be elections for Development Officer and Ulster Council although the sitting Officer is still standing. No election for Coaching and Games Officer. Sitting Officer unopposed.

There will probably be a bit of controversy between now and when votes are cast but this could be positive as Antrim GAA needs to waken up. And we all need to waken up at once- so there could be a bit of noise in the system for a while. This is the kick start that Antrim needs. Too long asleep!

Are there elections to County posts each year? So the mechanism is there for each officer to be opposed if necessary on an annual basis? Is it out of courtesy that sitting officers are not opposed?

Transfer

2nd November 2015

If a player wants to transfer to an antrim club from a club in another province which has recently folded completely, does that player need to complete a transfer? Or do they just need to register with their new club, as their old club is no longer in existence? Many thanks - rare one i know.

Yes an inter county transfer form needs to be signed

Glenavy Man

Well done to Glenavy GAC making it through to the intermediate Ulster Semi Final after beating Irvinstown from Fermanagh. It was a good way to end such a devastating week after Francie (senior manager) died. Glenavy are the only Antrim side left in the championship and they play Bundoran on Sunday 15th November at 3:30pm. Ádh mór orthu!

Volunteer

1st November 2015

I would imagine that most of the nominees coming forward have skills and expertise acquired through education and professional work. It is inspiring that they are prepared to make these available , voluntary to our Association in Antrim. We can all play our part in whatever way but it does require the right people in the right positions just as in team selection. There is now as never before such an abundance of professional expertise even at individual club level and as clubs we may not be making the best use of that. Volunteering your time is one thing but using and having the know how is another. If we stop and take notice througout Antrim and welcome fresh expertise into clubs then we could really improve. Of course the willingness to give voluntary is still a key factor.

County Committee

31st October 2015

Surely the real power block in the County is County Committee. If we are in poor standing does it not reflect on the ineptitude of the County Committee?

The clubs are the ultimate power in the county through their representation at county committee. Can't agree with ineptitude comment.
