All those standing for positions at whatever level have something in common - they will not pull on an Antrim jersey as a player. If our active Antrim players say in the age range 15-30 were interested in who was in these positions what would Saffron Vision tell them? What will they ensure that is done that is different to now. Structures, Dunsilly, Casement may not excite them.

Some of them have worn the saffron jersey in their time with pride and all want the best for those who do now and strive to do so in the future.

Hi never quite understood why we continue to have Divisional Boards ? Can understand when you had to go to meetings on a bicycle , pre advent of phones but are they not really filling up,cluttering an already congested fixtures calendar with all sorts of obscure competitions?

Can't agree with your sentiments. Divisional Boards are an integral part of Antrim GAA. They do more than provide fixtures.

Feel that the Vision Antrim personnel after Monday need to take to the road and set up meetings to inform people of who they are and what they are about. There are few people in Antrim GAA known outside their own narrow circle of acquaintances. This is despite the world of communication never being easier to use. And many of the Antrim Vision are not known. We need an awakening of grass roots involvement. We need support for those at Club level who dedicate themselves to coaching without the glamour of titles and visionary promotional flyers. Time for leadership to bring support on board.

I would suggest that the group has already made contact. All those others nominated can do the same.

Addiction

31st October 2015

The agencies in the community may be there but there is expertise required in terms of support to get those affected by substance abuse to access them. The support is what we need to offer. This requires skilled intervention. So I would contend that we may fill the position but not enough done. Drugs and alcohol abuse users are in every club - we need to do more.

Every club does their best and the wellfare of members is high on the agend

In response to JOD, I'm a member / player of the aforementioned club. I and others are a bit confused who the 3 Rossa men are. Obviously a tight ship because a lot of club members and players are unaware of this. Maybe they could have been helping with the club team making a forward step ???? Maybe it's just a rumour though, but if it proves to be true, as Rossa men we wish them all the best of luck.

As you say everything is speculation atm. No doubt the successful candidate will make known their full back room team.

What is going to happen to the Control Tower in Casement?

Depends on the development of new stadium.

Addiction

30th October 2015

Is there an alcohol and substance abuse officer in the clubs and are they available, trained to assist those with an addiction? Presumably individuals would be available to help outside their own club. How does one know who they are and are there some within the County who are actively engaged in this sort of work? Thanks.

Each club is encouraged to have a person who can assist with this but more for information and education purposes. There is no GAA training for these people but there are numerous agencies in the community who can assist and clubs are always encouraged to have links with their local communities

Can any Antrim Gael help this young student out I am final year Irish Studies student from Trinity College currently researching a dissertation on the emergence of the GAA in Ulster. I came across a certain source I am trying to locate, with little or no avail may I add. The source itself is an unpublished dissertation written by a Máire McBride in 1976 titled ' The GAA in Belfast 1885-1921'. It was sourced in a book titled 'The Evolution of the GAA - Ulaidh Éire Eile' edited by Dónal McAnallen, David Hassan and Roddy Hegarty. I have contacted Queens as this is where she was a student but with little joy unfortunately. Do you know of anywhere I would be able to get a hold of it? Looking forward to your reply. -- Le Meas, Oisín Mac Aodhagáin
