ROGER CASEMENTS GAC STRIKE CLUB MAITH GOLD It is with great pride we inform club members of the communication received today by club Runai (secretary) Martin Kearney of the official Club Maith accreditation….and its GOLD! Martin received the fantastic news earlier today in an email from Ulster Club and Community Development Officer Fionntan O Dowd. “A Chairde, - I am pleased to inform you that Roger Casements,Portglenone have been awarded a GOLD club maith award as of 16/11/16. Many congratulations on all your work in getting your club to this point.” Mr O Dowd went on to mention that it is the intention of Ulster Council to make a formal presentation to us of this prestigious award at the Mc Kenna Cup final on Saturday 28th January. Club chairman Noel Kelly is naturally delighted with the result. “This award is a huge credit to everyone who in the past, and at present has contributed to Roger Casements achieving this very prestigious award. Gold was the highest we could attain and it is just brilliant for our club to be seen as up there with the very best GAA clubs in the province. This award is the culmination of a lot of work, by a lot of people and is the best possible way to finish off what has been an almost unbelievable year in our clubs history. Our club is the absolute hub of this community and now that this has been officially recognised, we just need to keep climbing higher and higher in our quest to be the very best. A very special thank you is reserved for club stalwarts and skilled administrators Liam O Kane and Ciaran Mc Donnell who took leadership of our Club Maith programme over a prolonged period of five years, since the process was started. A special thank you is due as well to previous club chairman Sean Mc Aleese who kick started the application, and everyone who contributed in any way.”
