CUSHENDALL AND LOUGHGIEL BOOK FINAL PLACES

Cushendall qualified to meet Loughgiel in next Monday night's Under 21 Hurling Championship final when they beat the North Antrim combination Naomh Padraig by 1-20 to 1-9 in Monday evening's semi-final in Armoy.

Naomh Padraig matched the Ruairis well in the opening half and it looked like it could be anyone's game when the sides went in at the break level on 8 points apiece. However after the change of ends Cushendall took control of the match and began to open a lead.

A goal by Ed McQuillan midway through the second half all but sealed the win and though Naoimh Padraig hit back with a goal of their own through Johnny McErlaine it wasn't enought to trouble the winners who pushed on for a convincing win.

In the other semi-final Loughgiel & Rossa battled it out in Fr Healy Park with the Shamrocks comfortably booking a final spot with a convincing win.

The Loughgiel lads hit the groud running & opened the scoring with a well placed point from Shan McGrath.

Both teams battled hard in the first half. Rossa hit the back of the Shamrocks net & sent over two fine points to leave the score board at half time reading Loughgiel 0-10 Rossa 2-2.

Rossa closed the gap to a point early in the second half but Loughgiel were soon back in control and with the points coming from all angles they powered home to win by nine points
