Eamonn Prenter RIP
9th April 2026
All Antrim GAA members are saddened and shocked this week to learn of the untimely death of Eamonn Prenter from the Naomh Eanna club.
Eamonn’s playing days were marked with a senior county football debut at an early age, league titles in hurling and football with his club, and appearances with Queens and following his move to Dublin a brief spell with St Vincent’s; he also lined out for London while working in England.
Despite living in Dublin he never lost interest in or support for the Saffron County and he regularly came home for meetings in the mid 2000s which eventually led to the establishment of Club Aontroma, which Eamonn chaired during its fledgling years. That ushered in a new era of fundraising in Antrim and helped set the context in which the Saffron Business Forum has gone from strength to strength.
Eamonn was an adviser to the County and to Ulster GAA on the Dunsilly project and was also involved in early discussions around the redevelopment of Casement Park. Nothing was too much to ask of Eamonn in pursuit of success and stability for Antrim GAA and he made many good friends on his journey.
To the Prenter family, the Naomh Éanna club and to all his friends we send our condolences and prayers. Rest in peace Eamonn, and thank you.
