Antrim 3-28 Derry 0-14
20th June 2016
The Saffrons romped to a 3-28 to 0-14 win over Derry with PJ O'Connell, Ciaran Clarke and Sean McAfee hitting the goals.
Antrim were always in control in this Ulster Championship game in the Athletic Grounds.
The Saffrons led by 0-8 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter, and moved 1-16 to 0-9 ahead at the break, with PJ O'Connell finding the net on the 29th Minute followed up with a long range effort from Odhran McFadden on 31 minutes.
Ciaran Clarke, Conor Johnston and Niall McKenna were also impressive for Antrim with the likes of Ruairí Convery keeping the Oak Leafers ticking over. Eddie McCloskey and Nigel Elliott fired over impressive points for the saffrons.
Antrim never relented on the re-start, with Clarke and McAfee netting further goals to complete the Saffrons hat-trick, and ensure a 23-point win.
Its important that our hurling fans make their way to Croke Park this Saturday to show this team support. There is no doubt that Meath will be up for this game and Antrim will need to be at their best to win the Christy Ring Replay.
Chrissy O'Connell summed today up with his tweet - Great result lads! Next stop Croker!!
See you all in Croke Park on Saturday!
