5th June 2017

On the afternoon of Friday 19th May The Saffron Business Forum hosted 500 guests at their AP Mc Coy Sports Lunch to raise funds for the promotion of Gaelic games in Antrim including development squads.  Businessmen and Antrim GAA supporters alike flocked to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Belfast for the AP Mc Coy Sports Lunch.

The Tuesday Club, Ulaid and Duke Special and Celtic Storm entertained the crowd before host of the event Paul McErlean, Managing Director of MCE Public Relations, took to the stage for a very special raffle and auction. Such prizes included 2 tickets to the 2017 All Ireland Hurling (and Football) Final in Croke Park with an overnight stay in the Gibson Hotel, 2 Premium level tickets to see U2 live with an overnight stay in the Westbury Hotel and an AP Mc Coy Signed Print and Programme.

The question and answer session with AP Mc Coy followed. Sir Anthony Peter “AP” Mc Coy is the most successful jockey of all time holding the title of British jump racing Champion Jockey every year for the past 20 years consecutively and riding a record breaking 4,357 winners. AP was interviewed by former Dunloy, Antrim and Ulster hurling goalkeeper, Shane Elliott, and Paul Mc Erlean. The champion jockey gave an honest interview with a touch of humour throughout. Allowing listeners to gain a real insight into not only his career, but also life away from the racecourse.

The lunch was a day of breath-taking entertainment, great food and drink, inspirational answers and most importantly a success in raising awareness for the promotion of Gaelic games in Antrim including development squads.
