OVER 80 BUSINESSES SIGN UP FOR THE SAFFRON BUSINESS FORUM

NEW NETWORKING BODY UP AND RUNNING

Almost 100 businesses gathered at a Belfast hotel last Friday morning for the inaugural meeting of the new ‘Saffron Business Forum’, a new initiative designed to foster networking links among businesses of all sectors while raising funds for the development of GAA in the county.

Finance Minister Máirtín Ó’Muilleoir was the guest speaker at the event which also featured the new Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald and former Dublin All Ireland winner Eamonn Heery. 84 businesses were represented at the event which was organised by the new Coiste  Urraiochta - the fundraising sub committee established by the County Board.

Antrim Treasurer Pol Mac Cana welcomed the establishment of the Saffron Business Forum as a sign of the new approach to harnessing support for the county.

“As a County Board and supporters of Aontroim, we are all in this project together. A small group of volunteers have put in a huge effort to establish the Business Forum. We are not just asking business owners for financial support, rather we are bringing together like minded people who can benefit from networking, meeting new business contacts and growing their firms.

“We have almost 100 members already and I am sure that will grow in the months to come. This is an important first step of many.”

Máirtín Ó’Muilleoir welcomed the initiative and applauded the efforts of those who are striving to make Antrim a success.

Davy Fitzgerald addressed the event from the floor and encouraged all involved in Antrim gaelic games to make an impact on the national stage.

“I would love nothing more than to see an Antrim team having an impact nationally and that is possible. When everyone buys in, when everyone works together, anything is possible.”
