HEALTH AND WELLBEING EVENT - BE DRUGS AWARE
This is open to everyone affiliated to all Clubs and none. Please contact 07929 718 281 to confirm your attendance.
In January NIDacts (Northern Ireland Drug and Alcohol Connection Services) delivered a talk about the prevalence of drugs and how they can affect people’s performance in sport. This talk gave some reasons as to why young people can often feel pressured into “experimenting”, from using alcohol to the use and misuse of prescription and illegal drugs. Unfortunately sometimes “experiments” can lead to habits and in some cases it only takes one “experiment” to lead to death.
Many feel that this will not be a problem on their doorstep and we hope that this is the case but our Health and Wellbeing team have invited NIDacts to deliver a talk SPECIFICALLY for parents/carers, to give us a basic understanding of the range of substances that are prevalent in today’s society and give us information on help agencies that are available in our local area. Please make an effort to attend. Shatter the myths around the facts about drugs and face up to reality that our children are at risk.
