Gearly beloved Kickhams
7th August 2017
After months of hard work from Terry Robb and his VC (vaseline club) it all finished up on Sunday with 192 cyclists doing the Kickham’s Creggan Pedal the Pond charity cycle, which raised money for a range of local charities.
The first group left the club at 6.45am and the eighth and last group going out at 9.30am. Everything was going great until about 10.30 when the torrential rain that was forecast arrived in full force, but thankfully after a solid hour of rain it cleared for the rest of the day. The atmosphere going round the Lough with the cyclists was fantastic and everyone having ‘great craic’ together.
Then after the 90 & 45 mile groups were completed all the cyclists met up at Marrions in Randalstown before finishing as a group as all 192 cyclists cycled together up to the Parish Centre before completing what was without doubt one of the most incredible and enjoyable journeys back out home to Kickhams.
There were emotional scenes as the crowds that that had turned out to welcome the competitors home cheered the cyclists on the final leg of their epic journey. I won’t attempt to name the people individually who helped because I would miss someone so let’s just thank everyone who helped out on what was an EPIC day.
Thanks to all
