Allianz Hurling League Division 2A Final
ANTRIM 2-12 CARLOW 0-15
Antrim claimed the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A title registering a win over Carlow at Pairc Esler.
Early points from Neil McManus and Deaglan Murphy give the saffrons a 2 point lead before Carlow hit back to draw level. Then came a fantastic Eoghan Campbell goal on 9 minutes followed up by a Niall Mckenna score.
19th minutes in and Antrim were awarded a penalty which Neil McManus slotted home to leave the game at 2-03 to Carlow's 0-03 points.
2 further points from Deaglan Murphy and the Saffrons produced a solid opening period display departing 2-5 to 0-7 at the break.
Antrim scored 2 quick points after the restart via Paddy Burke and again Deaglan Murphy to put 6 between the sides. Neil McManus impressed with 2 points and the introduction of Ciaran Clarke lead to a great score from the Ballycastle man.
With 4 minutes of injury time left Neil McManus scored a wonder point to put 3 between the teams and Antrim held on to close out the game. The defence were solid all afternoon and all 6 defenders along with Chrissy give everything to keep the Carlow attack at bay.
The saffron fans definitely played a part in helping the players rise to the occasion.
The players and management deserve great credit in bringing Antrim back into Division 1B.
It is the start of a new journey. Antrim needs the supporters out.
