Club Volunteer Profile: Name: Rónán Ó Scolláin
Club Name: Gort na Móna CLG
What is your role at the club?:
Juvenile Hurling and Football coach
How long have you been doing the role for?:
I've been involved in coaching every year except for two since I was 18.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering at the club?
The memories that are created, the pure joy of seeing children develop and have fun and introducing their parents to the GAA family.
What is your most memorable moment or successful achievement at the club?
There are too many. 2005 and 2006 respectively were brilliant years for me as a player.
We won the IFC in 2005 and won the IHC in 2006 after being beaten by a point in the final v Glenariffe in 2005.
Most recently was watching my Under 10 team play some amazing football and winning the Jack McCartan Cup last year.
You can say it isn't about the winning all you want but seeing my son's team win that tournament after playing some brilliant football in a thrilling final and seeing that raw joy from them is a memory that won't ever leave me.
