A reflection on the All Ireland Scór Final- County Cultural Officer , Bronagh Lennon
As Cultural Officer in Antrim I wanted to take an opportunity to express my pride and absolute joy after the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final at the weekend, where Antrim made history for the County by taking home 3 titles. We were represented in 4 categories in the All Ireland Final in Castlebar; Ceili Dancing (Aghagallon), Recitation (Mary Kate Bonnes, Randalstown), Léiriú Stáitse (Aghagallon) and Quiz (Con Magee's , Glenravel)
To have 4 acts reach an All Ireland Final is a huge achievement for any County and we were so proud to have 3 Ulster champions in Antrim and of course our County Quiz Champions, Glenravel representing us in the All Ireland quiz final.
Scór and culture is a huge part of my life and something that I love and so on Saturday, after seeing all of the amazing performances, I was extremely proud of our county’s cultural success. It was an extraordinary achievement for the young people, their mentors , clubs and families . When we heard the results, the Antrim crowd lifted the roof off the TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar with shouts of pure elation and pride after witnessing 3 acts win All Ireland titles. This is an outstanding achievement for the clubs in the County and now we have taken 17 All Ireland medals and 3 All Ireland Cups home to Aghagallon and Randalstown. These medals were presented by Uachtarán CLG John Horan and Aidan Brennan, Chairperson of National Scór. This is a once in a lifetime achievement and something of this magnitude has never been achieved in the County . To have 3 All Irelands in one year and in one County is something that we may never see the likes of again.
I wish to thank all of the Cultural Officers in the County who have helped and continue to help to promote Scór and to develop it further in the County . I appreciate all of the efforts in all of the communities throughout the County . I hope that this amazing success will inspire and encourage all the clubs in the County to take part in Scór. It is a wonderfully inclusive , competition that showcases all that is great about the Irish Culture.
Go raibh maith agat as an tacaíocht agus an obair a dhéanann sibh sna clubanna ar fud an Chontae.
