What is their role at the club?

U6 Lead Camogie mentor
U8 Hurling mentor
U10 Boys football mentor
 
Responsible for ensuring new parents and children are welcome to the club, names are added to WhatsApp groups and administration of fixtures at the above ages.
 
Kevin we would describe as a silent saint, doesn’t want any plaudits but is very much the glue that helps hold U6 and U8 run smoothly and continue exponential growth.
 
 
How long have they been doing the role for?

4 to 5 years

What do they enjoy most about volunteering at the club?

Ensuring kids and parents feel welcome, have a smile on their face and that things run smoothly.
 
The friendships the kids develop and the skills they develop in our great games.
 
It provides a positive environment for families’ in an area of high social deprivation.  A safe haven for kids to keep fit and develop new friendships.

What is their most memorable moment or successful achievement at the club?

Starting Camogie at the club.
 
Having a 6 year old daughter who wanted to play camogie for Sarsfields, Kevin spearhead the setting up of U6 / U8 / U10 and U12 camogie at the club
 
He has helped establish firm foundations for our Juvenile structures within the club and more recently with Camogie to expand and become an integrated branch of the club.

Is there anything they think the GAA need to improve to help the clubs and their volunteers?

Sarsfields and the GAA have been great for Kevin and his four children.
 
A volunteer pathway for new volunteers to follow, akin to the player pathways that have been developed, to provide a kind of pathway the volunteer could use as a guide to help reassure and develop themselves as they become more involved in the club.
