re-fixtures

Hi Admin, could you clarify the situation re this Sundays fixed matches? Are you saying that any game fixed for Sunday 10th May will be instead played on Saturday 9th? I was of the understanding that the weekend, ie both Saturday and Sunday, was bein kept free for the 125 celebrations?

Many Thanks!

Yes and just Sunday is for 125 celebrations.

Davitts played Ardoyne on 15th April IN div 4B Hurling. No ref but game was played, which Davitts won 4-15 to 1-2. Appreciate this can't be taken as official but the result has yet to be updated? Can't understand the delay. Can you shed any light on this please?

CCC need to get a report from the person who refereed this game.

A draw for the hurlers against a division one side and Offaly's win against Wexford puts our result last week into a bit of perspective - let's get down to Croke on the 7th June in big numbers. We can win this one.

Are the games fixed for 10/5/09, next sunday, due to go ahead as central council has decreed that the dsy be left empty to permit clubs to celebrate the 125th anniversary of our association.

All games fixed for then will be played on Saturday.

Once again a decent performance by the Sarsfields Senior Hurlers down in Division 3 with a comfortable win against St. Teresa's. Lámh Dhearg "2" will be a tougher task on Wednesday night, but hopefully the great start you've made to the season can be added to.

Good job last week on the launch of the Belfast Strategic Plan. I read the summary in the Irish News yesterday morning. Is the complete strategy available online?

Looks like a comprehensive effort all round.

Not yet.

at the lavey v swatragh championsip semi final reply last year there was an armagh referee and an antrim linesman, i think it would be a good idea to mix it up. when it comes to matches where its a city team v a country team the ref is always biased, if hes from the city he favors the city team, if hes from the country then he favors the country team. It gets said all the time, if the county brought in outside refs for championship then there would be no arguement

Two Antrim referees of high standing actually refereed in the Derry Senior Hurling Championship last year. Ea*** Has*** from Derry has been refereeing in Antrim and also refereed the Intermediate Hurling Championsgip Final last year at Casement. Ea*** done a fine job, if you ask me. I personally thought it was a great move by the referees committee. A Derry referee acting with complete impartiality and no vested interest in the result!

Hi Admin

I Have to congratulate you on your reponse to the idiot SASMinger, who ever he is? Well said indeed. A very measured and appropriate response in my opinion.

You really should ignore such negative contributions from such empty vessels!

In relation to Child Protection isssues that any reader may have, The GAA launched a Code of Practice for Youth Sport at the recent Congress in Cork. I have downloaded the up to date document onto the "Administration" section of the web site under Child Protection.

Is the Antrim v Donegal championship match not being televised?

It seems not on RTE/TG4 - at least.

Why would somebody want a ref from outside to do ur games? Surely, we should be supporting and encouraging our own refs? With all due respect to the Derry Ref, or to Down refs for that matter, I don't think that they should be doing our championships - even if they do referee in our leagues.(This isn't a personal attack or a slur on any individual it is merely an opinion and this comment should be viewed as such.) We should be letting antrim refs do antrim championships. I'd like to know why people would want outsiders to do our games.

Have to say the derry man who referee's in the Antrim hurling leagues is an excellent referee and i would be delighted if he got more games.

Have to say some good referee's in Antrim at present and if they continue to improve as they have been it will improve the standard of hurling

After the negative publicity re. Tesco I would reckon the Centre of Excellence is a busted flush.

This is typical of some of the rubbish that gets into people's heads after an incident like this. How can you seriously believe that over £2 million of investment so far, would be derailed by a few "bully-boy" idiots? Making ridiculous statements like this which suggest that "there are areas into which the GAA should not go", only provides succour to those lunatics. Thankfully our Association has more sense than that!

Fantastic news that the 'great Justin McCarthy' and his Limerick charges are coming to Antrim. Justin has always been a true friend of Antrim going back many years.

Lets hope there is a great turn out in Ballycastle. I cant make it myself as I will be officiating at the Div. 4 NHL Final in Cavan, but
I hope it's a great day for everyone!
